1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Aqui Amigo LLC, doing business as Waige, collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information in connection with the Waige mobile applications, the website at waige.app, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). This Policy forms part of our relationship with you along with our Terms of Service.
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Controller / business
For purposes of applicable privacy laws, Aqui Amigo LLC is the entity responsible for the personal information collected through the Service. Contact details appear in Section 15.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Account and identity data — full name, email address, phone number, password (stored in hashed/encrypted form by our authentication provider), display name, and similar profile fields.
- Authentication data from third parties — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we may receive identifiers, name, email, and profile information those providers share with us (subject to your settings with them).
- Financial decision-support inputs you enter — hourly wage or income assumptions, currency, age (for projections), purchase amounts, merchant names, categories, transaction notes, receipt-related data you choose to upload, Before you buy decisions (Buy / Skip / Let me think), cooldown preferences, Smart Swap interactions, and similar content.
- Optional peer-comparison profile — if you opt in, age, ZIP code, gender, employment status, and occupation/job title so we can compare you to public benchmarks (for example Bureau of Labor Statistics and related demographic spending/earnings ranges). You can skip or opt out anytime.
- Communications — messages you send to support or feedback channels, and records of consent (for example agreement to Terms/Privacy).
- Marketing preferences — opt-in or opt-out choices for communications where applicable.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data — device model, operating system, app version, browser type, language, time zone, IP address, identifiers such as device IDs, and diagnostic logs.
- Usage data — features used, screens viewed, timestamps, crash reports, performance metrics, and approximate interaction patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies — on our website, we may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics, and preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them.
3.3 Information from other sources
We may receive information from: app stores; authentication and cloud providers (for example Firebase); analytics or crash-reporting vendors; publicly available sources we use for benchmarks (which are generally not linked to you personally); and partners who help us operate the Service, where permitted by law.
3.4 Sensitive data
Please do not submit sensitive categories of personal information (such as government ID numbers, precise health data, or payment card PANs) through free-text fields unless we expressly request them for a defined purpose and provide additional notices. Waige is not designed to store full payment-card numbers.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide the Service;
- calculate estimates (life hours, projections, swaps), personalize experiences, and deliver reminders or SMS/push notifications you enable;
- process transactions relating to paid features, subscriptions, or refunds (often via Apple/Google);
- communicate with you about the Service, security, updates, and support;
- monitor, debug, secure, and improve the Service, including analytics and quality assurance;
- detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights and users; and
- for other purposes disclosed at collection or with your consent.
We may aggregate or de-identify information so it is no longer reasonably linked to you, and use or disclose such information for any lawful purpose.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases as appropriate: performance of a contract (providing the Service); legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service, preventing abuse, limited analytics—balanced against your rights); consent (where required, such as certain cookies or marketing); and legal obligation.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers / processors that perform services on our behalf (hosting, authentication, databases, analytics, crash reporting, email/SMS delivery, customer support tooling, merchant/transaction enrichment, and AI-assisted features), under contractual obligations to use data only as instructed;
- Platform providers such as Apple, Google, and payment processors, as needed to distribute the app and process purchases;
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) under confidentiality obligations;
- Authorities and legal recipients when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Aqui Amigo, our users, or others;
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to customary confidentiality and continued protection of personal information; and
- Other parties with your direction or consent.
6.1 Merchant enrichment and Ask Tim (current integrations)
When you import or enter transactions, or use in-app assistance features, we may share limited merchant and transaction context with processors that help categorize and explain spending:
- Plaid Enrich — we may send transaction descriptors (and related non-sensitive enrichment fields such as amount direction or account type where needed for categorization) to Plaid’s Enrich API so merchants can be labeled more accurately. This is merchant/transaction enrichment only. Waige does not currently use Plaid Link to connect to your bank account or to pull account balances, full bank statements, or login credentials.
- OpenAI — we may send limited merchant names, transaction context, and your Ask Tim questions (plus related app context needed to answer) to OpenAI so the Service can suggest categories, clarify merchants, and power Ask Tim responses. Prompts are processed on our servers; API keys are not embedded in the mobile app.
These processors receive only what is needed for the requested feature. If we introduce bank account linking (for example Plaid Link) or other financial-account connectivity in the future, we will update this Policy and provide additional notice before that collection begins.
7. SMS and messaging
If you provide a phone number, we may use it to send transactional or Service-related SMS (for example account, security, or feature reminders such as cooldown follow-ups). Message frequency varies. Carrier message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of non-essential SMS by contacting us or using any STOP instructions we provide. Opting out of SMS may limit certain features but will not affect essential account emails where applicable.
8. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain your account, comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and for other legitimate business purposes. Retention periods vary by data category. When we no longer need personal information, we delete, de-identify, or aggregate it, subject to technical limitations and backup cycles.
9. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your credentials and for using updated devices and software.
10. Your choices and rights
- Account settings — you may update certain profile information in the app where available.
- Account deletion — you may permanently delete your account in the Waige app under Profile → Delete account. This removes your authentication account and associated cloud profile data we maintain, subject to backups and legal retention. You may also email hello@waige.app to request deletion.
- Notifications — control push notifications in your device settings; manage SMS preferences as described above.
- Access, correction, deletion — you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing hello@waige.app. We may need to verify your identity and may retain certain information as required or permitted by law.
- Marketing — where we send marketing emails, you may unsubscribe via the link in the message.
10.1 California (CCPA/CPRA) and similar U.S. state laws
If you are a resident of California or another state with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have rights to: know/access; delete; correct; opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising (if applicable); limit use of sensitive personal information (if applicable); and not be discriminated against for exercising rights. To exercise rights, contact hello@waige.app. We will respond as required by applicable law. You may designate an authorized agent as permitted by law.
We do not knowingly “sell” personal information as that term is traditionally understood. If our practices constitute “sharing” for advertising under California law in the future, we will provide a required opt-out mechanism.
10.2 EEA/UK rights
Where applicable, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
11. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
12. International transfers
Aqui Amigo is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your home country. Where required, we use appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) with providers.
13. Third-party sites and services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party practices.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised Policy on this page and update the effective date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
